Simple Diffusion Diagram with Explanation

Diagram of simple diffusion

Simple diffusion is a natural process where particles move from regions of higher concentration to regions of lower concentration. Unlike some other cellular processes, simple diffusion doesn’t require any additional energy input. Instead, it relies on the inherent tendency of particles to spread out and achieve a balanced distribution. These particles pass through a semi-permeable barrier, such as a cell membrane, allowing them to move freely between compartments. Eventually, as particles continue to move, they reach a state of equilibrium where the concentration becomes uniform throughout the system.
